Frequently Asked Questions: What they ask about FastSum
Is the file corrupted if the checksums do not match?
Not exactly. Discrepant checksums mean only that the file has changed. As well as data corruption it can mean that file was changed deliberately.
For example: when you have edited and saved a document, the records in data base have changed, or the new records have been added. So you can also use FastSum to identify the list of changed files. It is useful when you need to synchronise a large amount of files between different locations.
For more information about the receiving the changed files list see the Documentation.
