Frequently Asked Questions: What they ask about FastSum
What is the Checksum file?
During updating the checksums, the checksum of each file in the specified folder will be calculated and saved in a special file. This file is called the checksum file, and in dependence from the options, this file may be one for a folder tree, one for each folder or one for each file. Checksum file is a small text file containing the MD5 checksums for all calculated files.
During the verification of the checksums, values saved in these files are compared with the current checksum values of corresponding files and if they do not match you will see an appropriate warning.
