Checksum Saving Modes
When you are about to create or verify the checksums of your files you are provisioned to choose one of the three checksum saving modes.
Note: While checking the integrity of your files you must choose the same mode that you selected during the creation of their checksums.
One per folder | One checksum-list is created for each processed folder. You can specify the depot-file name using the "Storage file name" settings. During the verification FastSum tries to find such lists in each folder and load the source checksums from it. After the actual checksums are calculated they are compared with the loaded values. |
|
One in root folder | FastSum creates one file-list that contains checksums of all files in a selected folder. If you enable the "Include subfolders" option all subfolder files will be processed as well. This mode makes sense only if you are using the Wizards. You can specify the depot-file name by using the "Storage file name" settings. During the verification FastSum tries to find such lists in the root of selected folder and load the source checksums from it. After the actual checksums are calculated they are compared with the loaded values. |
|
For each file | In this saving mode FastSum creates a single checksum file for each file in a specified folder. File name is formed from: source file name + checksum file standard extension (.md5). During the verification FastSum tries to find the checksum file for each file and load the source checksums from it. After the actual checksums are calculated they are compared with the loaded values. |
By default, FastSum offers you the most optimal way of saving the checksums.
